Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a physical challenge

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a physical challenge that requires endurance, stamina, and mental strength. The climb typically takes between 5 and 9 days, depending on the chosen route and the pace of the climbers. During this time, climbers will cover around 60-80 kilometers (37-50 miles) and ascend over 4,000 meters (13,000 feet). While the climb does not require any technical climbing skills, it is a strenuous trek that involves hiking for several hours a day on rugged and steep terrain. Climbers will be carrying a backpack with their personal gear, which can add additional weight to their load. The altitude also poses a challenge, as the air becomes thinner the higher you climb, making breathing more difficult and potentially causing altitude sickness. To prepare for the physical challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, it is recommended that climbers engage in regular aerobic exercise, such as running or cycling, and practice hiking on hills or mountains. KPAP raises public awareness regarding the proper treatment of porters on Kilimanjaro and assists climbing companies with implementing procedures that ensure fair and ethical treatment of their porters.
Every of our climb is audited by KPAP to ensure crewmembers are provided proper salaries, tips, food, equipment and sleeping conditions.
