Kilimanjaro Climb and Safari for Women: The Complete Tanzania Adventure
A Kilimanjaro climb and safari for women gives you the opportunity to experience two of Tanzania’s greatest attractions in one journey: climbing Africa’s highest mountain and exploring some of the country’s most famous wildlife destinations.
WomenClimbKili offers scheduled women-only Kilimanjaro groups for female travelers from around the world, including women traveling alone. After completing the 7-day Machame Route, you can continue your adventure with a 4-day Tanzania safari to Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park.
This combination is especially suitable for travelers who are already making a long international journey to Tanzania and want to experience both the mountain and safari during the same trip.
Why Combine Kilimanjaro and Safari in One Trip?
Mount Kilimanjaro and Tanzania’s northern safari circuit offer completely different experiences.
On Kilimanjaro, your days are spent trekking through changing landscapes, adjusting to altitude, sleeping in mountain camps, and working toward the summit at Uhuru Peak.
On safari, the pace changes. Instead of hiking for several hours each day, you travel through Tanzania’s national parks in a safari vehicle while looking for wildlife and enjoying the scenery.
Combining the two means you can experience both adventure and wildlife without needing to arrange two separate trips to Tanzania.
Is the Trip Suitable for Solo Female Travelers?
Yes. Solo female travelers are welcome to join WomenClimbKili scheduled departures.
You do not need to find a friend or partner before booking.
You can reserve an individual place, travel to Tanzania independently, and meet the rest of the women in Moshi before the Kilimanjaro climb begins.
This gives you the independence of solo travel while still allowing you to share the main parts of the trip with an organized group.
Part One: Climbing Kilimanjaro via the 7-Day Machame Route
The mountain section of the WomenClimbKili program uses the 7-day Machame Route.
Machame is one of Kilimanjaro’s best-known trekking routes and passes through several different ecological zones, including rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and the high-altitude summit environment.
The seven-day itinerary also provides more acclimatization time than shorter Machame programs.
During the trek, the group experiences major locations including Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, Barranco Wall, Karanga Camp, Barafu Camp, Stella Point, and finally Uhuru Peak.

Part Two: 4-Day Tanzania Safari
After the Kilimanjaro climb, women who book the combined package continue on a 4-day safari through northern Tanzania.
The safari includes three famous destinations:
- Serengeti National Park.
- Ngorongoro Crater.
- Tarangire National Park.
Each destination offers a different landscape and wildlife experience.
Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti is one of Africa’s best-known wildlife destinations and is famous for its vast open plains and diverse animal populations.
Depending on location and season, wildlife sightings may include lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, antelope, and many other species.
After a week of trekking on Kilimanjaro, traveling across the Serengeti provides a completely different view of Tanzania.
Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater offers one of Tanzania’s most distinctive safari environments.
The safari road descends into the large volcanic caldera, where a wide variety of wildlife can be found within a relatively concentrated area.
The surrounding crater walls and open landscape also make Ngorongoro one of the most visually impressive parts of Tanzania’s northern safari circuit.
Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park is known for its elephants, baobab trees, and varied wildlife.
Its landscape is very different from both Serengeti and Ngorongoro, adding another experience to the safari extension.
Including Tarangire means the 4-day safari gives travelers a broader introduction to northern Tanzania rather than visiting only one park.
How Long Is the Full Kilimanjaro and Safari Trip?
The complete WomenClimbKili climb and safari program lasts approximately 15 days.
The program includes:
- 2 hotel nights in Moshi before the Kilimanjaro climb.
- 7 days trekking Mount Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route.
- 2 hotel nights after the climb.
- 4 days of Tanzania safari.
- 1 additional hotel night after safari.
This gives travelers time to prepare before Kilimanjaro, recover after the mountain, and continue into the safari portion of the adventure.
How Much Does the Kilimanjaro and Safari Package Cost?
The women-only Kilimanjaro climb costs US $2,950 per lady.
The optional 4-day safari extension costs US $2,400 per lady.
The complete Kilimanjaro climb + safari package costs US $5,350 per lady.
To reserve the complete climb and safari package, a US $1,605 deposit per lady is required.
Can I Book Kilimanjaro Without Safari?
Yes.
The safari is optional. Women who only want to climb Kilimanjaro can book the climb-only package for US $2,950 per lady.
The climb-only trip lasts 11 days and can be reserved with a US $300 deposit per lady.
This flexibility allows you to choose the trip that best matches your available time and budget.
Why Safari Is a Great Experience After Kilimanjaro
The transition from trekking to safari can be one of the most enjoyable parts of the trip.
After several days of hiking, waking early, managing altitude, and sleeping in mountain tents, the safari offers a slower-paced experience.
You can sit in a safari vehicle, observe wildlife, take photographs, and experience Tanzania without the physical demands of mountain trekking.
It also gives the group additional time together after completing Kilimanjaro.
Who Is This Package Best For?
The combined package can be a good option for women who:
- Are visiting Tanzania for the first time.
- Want to experience both Kilimanjaro and safari.
- Are traveling alone and want to join an organized women-only group.
- Have enough holiday time for a longer Africa trip.
- Want to make the most of long-haul flights to Tanzania.
- Enjoy both active adventure and wildlife travel.
- Want to travel with a maximum group size of 12 women.
Can Friends Book the Trip Together?
Yes.
Although WomenClimbKili is ideal for solo female travelers, friends are also welcome to book together.
You can join as two friends, sisters, colleagues, relatives, or a small group while still becoming part of the wider scheduled women-only departure.
How Large Are the Groups?
WomenClimbKili scheduled departures are limited to a maximum of 12 women.
Keeping the group small helps create a more personal atmosphere and gives participants more opportunity to get to know each other during both the Kilimanjaro and safari portions of the trip.

Safety on Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro is a high-altitude trek, so proper safety procedures are important.
Our mountain team carries emergency oxygen, a first-aid kit, and a pulse oximeter used for daily health monitoring.
Guides monitor climbers throughout the expedition and pay close attention to altitude-related symptoms.
Reaching the summit is an important goal, but safety always comes first.
Participants should also have suitable travel insurance covering trekking at Kilimanjaro’s altitude and emergency evacuation.
What Should You Pack for Both Kilimanjaro and Safari?
Packing for a combined mountain and safari trip requires clothing for very different environments.
For Kilimanjaro, you need:
- Hiking boots.
- Base layers.
- Warm trekking layers.
- Insulated jacket.
- Waterproof jacket and trousers.
- Warm gloves and hat.
- Headlamp.

Can I Join During the New Year Period?
Yes.
WomenClimbKili also offers a December departure designed around the New Year period.
Women can choose the Kilimanjaro climb only or continue onto safari after the mountain.
Because December and January are popular travel periods, booking international flights early can be helpful.
Why Book the Climb and Safari With One Local Operator?
Using one local Tanzanian operator for both Kilimanjaro and safari can simplify the trip.
Instead of coordinating separate companies for airport transfers, hotels, mountain logistics, and safari arrangements, the main services can be organized as one itinerary.
Eco-Africa Climbing is based in Tanzania and operates both Kilimanjaro climbs and safari trips.
Responsible Kilimanjaro Travel
A Kilimanjaro expedition depends on the work of mountain guides, porters, cooks, and support staff.
Eco-Africa Climbing is a partner company of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project, which promotes fair treatment and better working conditions for Kilimanjaro porters.
Responsible crew welfare is an important part of the way our mountain expeditions are operated.
